So I recently discovered the webcomic “Monster Pulse” written by Magnolia Porter. Almost IMMEDIATELY I fell in love with Julie and Kera.
I just love Julie. I just do.
More gender-bent stuff. There isn’t any logical reason to do it, but I did.
I don’t think Vesti is a real Indian name or nickname, but whatever. Maybe there’s some reason her family calls her that. I keep thinking that she would be sort of preppy. Study would be very important to her. She’d mostly be trying to live a normal life, but I think that duty has a really big place in her values. That’s why “she” is the one to bring up helping others if they are saddled with monsters. I think also, though, that all the pressure she sometimes feels would draw her toward the laid-back Julian. He’s just relaxing to be around because he’s so random and fun, and (more importantly) doesn’t seem to have any expectations for anyone. It doesn’t hurt that he already likes her, too.
On Bela, that’s actually a boy’s name, but it’s also the name of a famous actor who originally played Dracula, Bela Lugosi. People are also starting to name girls that. I mostly picked it because it’s an anagram of Abel. I think that she would be kind of agile and wild—animal- or bird-like—so when her soft side comes out it’d be a really big contrast. Which was one of the great things from the comic, of course.
